Helen E. Srebro, 95, of Dickson City, died Tuesday morning June 11, 2013, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Srebro who died January 13, 1984.
Born in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Dominika Maslowski Borkowski, and she was a member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City and she was a former member of its Christian Mother’s society. She was educated in St. Mary’s Parochial School and she was a homemaker.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who was a devout Catholic and proud of her Polish heritage. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, cooking, shopping, eating at nice restaurants, and spending time with her great grandchildren. She was a fan of the New York Yankees and NASCAR especially Jimmy Johnson. Her family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to her caregivers, her sister, Val, and nieces Betty and Sarah.
Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Danielewicz and husband, James, Stroudsburg, Janet Gable and husband, Edward, Dickson City; a son, Joseph Srebro and wife, Lisi, Dickson City; grandchildren, Darlene Wolfington and husband, Chris, Joy Britton and husband, Todd, Edward Gable Jr., Brian Gable and wife, Stephanie, Mark and Aaron Srebro; great grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Andrew, James and Amanda Wolfington, Aiden Britton, Jackson and Maddox Gable; a sister, Valerie Ward, Madisonville; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Edward Borkowski and three sisters, Estelle Misiukiewicz, Dolores Labinski and Pearl Chopak.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc. 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dickson City.
